Day 1 - Durham - About Town With Chris on Saturday, May 4th, 2013

Chris, Pam and I on Framwelgate Bridge

Chris has been an excellent tour guide.  He took us on several forced marches through the streets of Durham.  I must add that Durham is a VERY hilly city!  The Wear River wraps around Durham in a big "U". Several bridges cross the river on both sides.  Trails follow both banks of the river.  The cathedral and castle are both at the top of the hill, protected by the "U" bend of the river.  Chris' college called St. Chad's College is across from the cathedral.

Durham Cathedral

Durham Cathedral is a gorgeous cathedral well worth a visit.  Since we saw the inside in 2010, we elected to skip it this time, especially since photography is not allowed.  However, it is a beautiful cathedral!

Piper

As we walked the streets, we often passed street performers.  Pipers, flute players, guitar players, mime.  All worth watching and listening to.

River Wear

There are some beautiful views of the river from each of the bridges.

Street Muscician

This guy was quite good.  I usually tip them a coin or two after I take their photo.
