Day 18 - Sennen Cove on Tuesday, May 21st, 2013

Between St. Ives and Lands End, Sennen Cove features a hill overlooking a scenic cove on the south west coast of Cornwall.  We only spent 20 minutes there, but managed to take a few reasonable shots of the cove and the coastal town of Sennen.

One of my passions is history.  On the hill overlooking Sennen, we stumbled upon two WWII era pillboxes built between 1940 and 1941 that were part of the coastal fortifications to protect Britain from invasion by Germany.  An effort sponsored by English Heritage called the Defence of Britain Project has documented the existing fortifications throughout Britain.  This information has been imported into Google Earth to document the location of each fortification.
