Day 17 - Sanctuary on Monday, May 20th, 2013

We love Otters!  Cute as can be.  So when we had some time to fill on Monday, we paid a visit to Tamar Otter & Wildlife Centre near Launceston, Cornwall.  We arrived at the end of the day, but had just enough time to see most of the wildlife.  There were tons of Otters!  They were going nuts because the keeper was feeding them.  We also saw lots of other wildlife including Deer, Wallabies, Wildcats, Hawks, Owls, Peacocks and Turkeys.  If you are in the area, it is worth a visit if you like Otters or if you have children with you.

Along the way, we accidentally wondered on to a runway of the RAF Davidstow Moor airbase used by the RAF Coastal Command during WWII to protect shipping from German U-boats. American Army Air Corp planes also operated out of Davidstow.  We didn't feel comfortable stopped on a runway, so we high tailed it out of there.  Wish I had taken some photos tho!

Skylar, the Harris Hawk.  Harris Hawks often hunt in packs rather than hunting alone.

European Otter aka British Otter.  The sanctuary rehabilitates and releases Otters.
